TMJ Massage Therapy is helpful for relieving jaw pain caused by temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD).
These treatments are focussed on reducing the tension in the muscles surrounding and connected to the jaw, which helps to reduce pain and increase range of motion.
During the treatment, both extra-oral (outside the mouth) and intra-oral (in the mouth) techniques are used. Your massage therapist will wear gloves when performing intra-oral techniques.
If you're suffering from any of the following symptoms, TMJ massage therapy can help:
- jaw clicking or popping when opening
- jaw locking open or shut
- tinnitus
- sensation of fullness in the ear
- headaches
- feeling of fatigue in the jaw
